Screenwriter John Sayles is two-for-two when it comes to killer animal movies in the Jaws tradition. He wrote the terrific Piranha (directed by the terrific Joe Dante) and this killer gator movie. It’s possibly even more terrific than Piranha, thanks in large part to a lead turn by the great Robert Forster. And Henry Silva has a fun cameo as a (spoiler) short-lived alligator hunter.
